Titanic
I've always wondered.
Why was the movie Titanic so successful in the box office?
How did it become successful and remembered?
What placed it down in film history books?
Is it just the romance?
Or did it give a semblance of hope in times of financial crisis?
Is it just filmography and music?
Or is there more between social reality and imagination?
Can anyone answer?

Sonicflood
The sky will fall
The ground will give
Through it all You will
be faithful
Friends may leave
They come and go
This I know
You will be faithful
You will be faithful
You will always be the same
Your love will never change
You are the everlasting
I will put my trust in You
Forever to be true
You are the everlasting
You are the everlasting
When beauty fades
And slips away
For all my days You will
be faithful
When I breathe
My final breath
I find my rest in Your
faithfulness
When all around us
Is falling into waste
When the earth is dying
You cannot be erased
And I don't have to be afraid
You're the Alpha and Omega
You're forever, everlasting
Cry Holy
Every sun and moon and star
All declaring who You are
We fall silent in amazment
Every word and deed of man
Every sea and grain of sand
All creation speaks
And now we sing to proclaim Your majesty
Let the earth rejoice
Singing with one voice
Let the people cry
Holy holy Lord
Every creature sing
Praises to the King
All creation cry
Holy is the Lord
Every song sung on the earth
Will never capture all your worth
We fall silent in amazement
Let every humble heart now see
The beauty of Your majesty
All creation speaks
And now we sing to the King above all kings
All creation claims your majesty
Holy is your name in all the earth
All creation claims your majesty
And now we sing
Here I am humbled by your Majesty
Covered by your grace so free
Here I am, knowing I'm a sinful man
Covered by the blood of the Lamb
Now I've found the greatest love of all is mine
Since you laid down your life
The greatest sacrifice
Majesty, Majesty
Your grace has found me just as I am
Empty handed, but alive in your hands
Majesty, Majesty
Forever I am changed by your love
In the presence of your Majesty
Here I am humbled by the love that you give
Forgiven so that I can forgive
Here I stand, knowing that I'm your desire
Sanctified by glory and fire
Now I've found the greatest love of all is mine
Since you laid down your life
The greatest sacrifice

Disney Songbook
I bought this CD/DVD (original, mind you) a couple of years back. When I was in Sembawang Music Store at Orchard, was wondering what to buy when I glanced at the title "Jim Brickman: A Disney Songbook", I went wow!
Immediately bought it. =D
Gives me nostalgia it does.
Here's two of the songs that stood out for me in the DVD.
Beautiful by Jim Brickman feat. Wayne Brady
I'm Amazed by Jim Brickman feat. Lila McCann
I love country music. And despite the criticisms and stereotypes, I love pop music as well.
Not to mention jazz. (am using bebop as a social-historical example of an act of creation in my essay)

Eve speaks to Adam
With thee conversing I forget all time,
All seasons and their change, all please alike.
Sweet is the breath of morn, her rising sweet,
With charm of earliest birds; pleasant the sun
When first on this delightful land he spreads
His orient beams, on herb, tree, fruit, and flower,
Glistering with dew; fragrant the fertile earth
After soft showers; and sweet the coming on
Of grateful evening mild, then silent night
With this her solemn bird and this fair moon,
And these the gems of heav'n, her starry train:
But neither breath of morn when she ascends
With charm of earliest birds, nor rising sun
On this delightful land, nor herb, fruit, flower,
Glistering with dew, nor fragrance after showers,
Nor grateful evening mild, nor silent night
With this her solemn bird, nor walk by moon,
Or glittering starlight without thee is sweet.
John Milton
[from Paradise Lost]
