Welcome
to my humble abode

Who am I?
Who am I? That the Lord of all the earth, Would care to know my name, Would care to feel my hurt.
Who am I? That the bright and morning star, Would choose to light the way, For my ever wandering heart.
I am a flower quickly fading, Here today and gone tomorrow, A wave tossed in the ocean, A vapor in the wind. Still you hear me when I'm calling, Lord, you catch me when I'm falling, And you've told me who I am. I am yours. I am yours.

January 27, 2007 (part one)

Word of Warning: The story below contains parts of exaggeration. But ultimately, it still sticks quite close to the truth.

______________________________

January 27, 2007 will go down in history.

This was the day a certain Lynette Goh Ying Qin went to Singapore and had the day of her life.

It started off simple. With her bleary eyes waking up exactly during lunchtime. She bumbled her way down the stairs and had a nice chat with her grandparents while stuffing herself with sausages and toufu. "Kong, Po, wo yi dian ban yao qu xin jia po le. (translated: Grandpa, Grandma, I'm going into Singapore at 1.30pm)" Lynette informed her darling grandparents. With that, she raced up to the bathroom, showered, changed and sprayed a bit of The Body Shop Oceanus eau de toilette.

But she was running late! Oh no!

Plus, it started raining, so she ran up and grabbed her thick green hoodie coat. Calling up the Comfort Taxi hotline, Lynette gave her address and destination before hanging up.

She started waiting...
and waiting...
and waiting...

.
.
.

FINALLY! The taxi arrived and she rushed on. Fortunately for her, the rain sort of stopped. It drizzled a bit here and there still though...

So off she went!

Details of her going into Singapore ain't really that fantastic.

What was fantastic were the people she met! Right?

Heck no!

Since when you arrived?

Since a long time ago. Just waited to the part where I can finally defy you. Bwahahahaha!

Oh shut up. You're not required here at the moment.

Who says so? I'm important, and definitely required. I'm your brain, stupid!

I say so. And you're not my brain. You're this teensy weeny part of the earth that I can ground to dust beneath my feet.

Fine, I concede defeat. But you're supposed to tell a story and got distracted by me. Hah! ME! See, I'm better because I can distract you.

Oh you...@#$%^7518%$#$^$$%^^$#@!%~#$^*%##$%@!
*purposely shutting down a part of her mind that holds that annoying voice*

I'll get you back! *fading away*

Let's get back to the story.

So she went off to meet Sandy, Peiling and a new acquaintance named Cindy. They were jolly polly rolly. Then Lynette accompanied Sandy all the way on bus 961 to Bukit Timah, where Sandy's aunt was staying. She then took bus 174 to Orchard Road.

But thing was that after she alighted at the bus stop opposite Tangs, Lynette found herself lost. Help! She couldn't find Heeren! So she whipped out her handy handphone and called the knight in shining armour to rescue her. Oh wait, it wasn't a knight in shining armour who came. It was a knight in Billabong armour who arrived and dragged her out of the raging crowds of Orchard Road to HMV in Heeren.

There she bought the DVD she longed for, searched for, cursed for, whatever for, and off they went to Dhoby Ghaut to meet the third part of their group. Well, before that, the third part of their group called up Lynette telling her she forgot to bring her mobile. So she called using a friend's phone. Yes, so when Lynette and Billabong knight wanted to find out where the girl was, Lynette called up that friend's number and boy or boy, or guy answered.

'Did Zhi Ai (the girl) forgot to mention something? That she, perhaps, have a boyfriend?' Lynette thought, with wide eyes.

To carry on, the three of them met up at Dhoby Ghaut MRT and made their way to Plaza Singapura.

Sitting down at Fish and Co. right at the entrance, the three of them ordered their food. Billabong knight was fascinated with the Australia Open for Tennis, seeing Serena Williams whipping Maria Sharapova's bottom. He kept on mentioning that the girl's shoulders were broader than his.
That's what you get, Benjamin (the Billabong knight), for having an eviable waist size of 27.

So halfway through eating the glorious meal of Chips, Rice, Raisins, Calamari, Prawns, Fish and Mussels, Lynette noticed someone from the opposite table waving at her. It was a man. He was waving like he knew the ever sadistic Lynette, but poor sadistic Lynette just did not know who he was (even though he looked rather cute) and so she just raised an eyebrow at him. I think he was trying to pick up the wrong person.

Van Wilder came out in the topics they were talking about, and it resulted in a gross look by Zhi Ai and bellows of laughter from Lynette and Ben.

After their meal, they paid the bill and left. Then..."Something's missing." Ben rushed back inside the restaurant and grabbed his bag before stepping out of the entrance. What a sight he found!

Lynette and Zhi Ai were both laughing their heads off at him, clutching their tummies.

"...I felt so light..." Ben muttered.

Yes, we know how light you are.

They made their way to TCC (The Coffee Connoiseur) and ordered caffeine drinks and a white wine dessert. Obviously, too many drinks resulted in too many trips to the toilet. Yep, poor Lynette went to the ladies for 3 times. Also, caffeine drinks also resulted in a perpetual state of high-ness for the 3 of them. Sipping Latte from a Cinammon stick just was perfect.

A good ambience, nice drinks, good friends, and to top it all off, a cute waiter!

But of course...that is a story for another day.
Wait until then...trust me, you don't want to miss this part.

TO BE CONTINUED...

Cookies

I just made a batch of cookies, oatmeal and chocolate chip ones. About 28 medium sized ones. It was just in time when my dad and his business friend arrived from Batam, and they took a few pieces. Uncle Sim said it was very good. But the cookie I gave him was from the unburnt side of the tray. It's quite funny, one side of the tray the cookies are fantastic, and the other is slightly burnt underneath. Still, it tasted good. Crunchy on the outside and it melts in the inside. My grandad was eating it non-stop, till my dad stopped him at his 4th piece. It's quite funny.

Should try my hand on brownies and cake now.

Cookies...just reminded me of my rabbit that died a few years ago. Her name was Cookie. I was about to name her Pocahontas because the other rabbit was Jasmine, so I wanted to Disney theme. She's chocolate in colour with white front paws and streaks of light brown on her coat. I think she's a cross-breed between a white rabbit and a hare. Cookie's beautiful. Wild and naughty, but gorgeous.
Jasmine was so tame and boney. Frankly the two of them reminded me of my cousin and I when we were young. I was full of bones and no fat when my cousin was cute and chubby. Now it's like the other way round. He's buff and muscular in his upper torso due to canoeing and dragon-boating. I'm packing in the fats now.

Man, I really got to exercise!

I want to have this song played in my wedding.

Here is love, vast as the ocean
"Here is love vast as the ocean
Loving kindness as the flood
When the Prince of life, our ransom
Shed for us His precious blood
Who His love will not remember?
Who can cease to sing His praise?
He can never be forgotten
Throughout Heaven's eternal days

On the Mount of Crucifixion
Fountains opened deep and wide
Through the floodgates of God's mercy
Flowed a vast and gracious tide
Grace and love, like mighty rivers
Poured incessant from above
And Heaven's peace and perfect justice
Kissed a guilty world in love

Let us all His love accepting
Love Him ever all our days
Let us seek His Kingdom only
And our lives be to His praise
He alone shall be our glory
Nothing in the world we see
He has cleansed and sanctified us
He Himself has set us free

In His truth He does direct me
By His Spirit through His Word
And His grace my need is meeting
As I trust in Him, my Lord
All His fullness He is pouring
In His love and power in me
Without measure
Full and boundless
As I yield myself to Thee"

While I was searching for this hymn lyrics, I chanced upon this blog a certain Christian Singaporean man had. In it contained one very interesting post about virginity and whether or not to keep it intact for both male and female.
Here it is: Remaining As A Virgin -> A Treasure Or Unwanted Individual?

Go check it out.
Oddly enough I'm pretty surprised that a guy in Singapore confessed into keeping his virginity till marriage. I think my mindset had set some prejudices over the male species in general because of some individuals who affected me before. Must change that.

A new year

I want to take back what the Devil stole away from me this year.
So in the name of Jesus,
give me back my innocence!
give me back my mind!
give me back my strength!
give me back my heart!
give me back my love!
